Dems: End all conflict by year-end

The Democrat Party has urged all sides to end all conflicts on the occasion of His Majesty the King's 83rd birthday on Sunday.

Democrat spokesman Buranat Samutharak said his party would like all Thais to stop expressing views that deepen conflict in the country.

"Let all conflicts end by the end of this year, and everyone should take part in the reconciliation process," Mr Buranat said.

As for the 258 million baht illicit donations case, the ruling party spokesman said there had been activities to pressure the Constitution Court to rule against the Democrats.

These activities were carried out by a political party, a former prime minister, some people in the public sector and some banned politicians, he said.

"The justice system is being threatened, but the Democrats will legitimately fight the case with witnesses and evidence.

"The Democrats have not received special assistance from anyone and we would like to ask the public to help protect the justice system and not to interfere in the justice process," he said.
